  • Doubletap Ammo uses UPS Ground for delivering our packages; delivery times vary.  If you live in Utah, you can expect about 1 business day for delivery.  If you live in the mountain or Pacific time zones, expect about 2 business days.  Central and Midwest states, 3-4 days. EST states, 5 days.
  • We can ship to any state in the lower 48!  If you have an FFL dealer, simply put their shipping address into your order, separate from your billing address.  You can send any license or ID information to us at office@doubletapammo.com.

Components

  • The projectiles in our ammo are of DT design and make, unless noted otherwise in the product description.
  • The DT Hardcast Solid™ bullets are NOT going to lead your barrel! They are 21 Brinell hardness, which is higher than average, and processed with a clear lubricant.
  • The difference between Controlled Expansion™ and Bonded Defense®: each are a jacketed hollow point, but with separate characteristics.  Controlled Expansion is a cup and core design, the projectile is more likely to fragment inside the target.  With the Bonded Defense®, the core and the jacket are mechanically joined or bonded, this design holds together more after penetration.
  • We cannot disclose certain factors of our loading practices, which includes gunpowder type and charges.
  • We only use new components, never previously fired or reclaimed brass.

DT SnakeShot™ & Equalizer™

  • DT SnakeShot™ is NOT recommended for use with a suppressor.  However, it is safe for your rifling, muzzle brakes, and ported barrels.
  • SnakeShot Defense™ uses a full size JHP bullet and is NOT recommended for suppressors or ported barrels.
  • Equalizer™ rounds are safe to use with suppressors, rifles, muzzle brakes, and ported barrels.

450 SMC

  • 450 SMC is an improved version of the 45 ACP cartridge. The case and overall length of the round is identical to a 45 ACP.
  • The benefit of the 450 SMC over the 45 ACP is that the 450 SMC case can handle much higher pressures, which in turn allows us to achieve velocities similar to the 10mm with heavier 45 caliber bullets.
  • You can shoot 450 SMC in your 45 ACP+P rated firearm without any modifications. It simply needs to be able to handle +P ammunition. This usually extends to modern day firearms that are in good condition, but always check with the manufacturer to see if your gun is +P rated.
  • A heavier recoil spring is recommended for shooters who fire aver 500 rounds of 450 SMC ammo a month, but it is not necessary for shooters who fire less than that.

Safety and Regulation

  • All of our ammunition is within SAAMI spec. (with the exception of 45 Colt+P, which has none)
  • Doubletap Ammunition is developed and tested in Cedar City, Utah.  Our elevation here is over a mile above sea level.  This factor does play a role in our listed velocity, and can vary from your own personal experience in shooting ammo where you are located.
